My Uk life Series - The Beginning (Planning)

Hi Friends, This has been long overdue but I think I am in a good place to begin this series. Travelling has never been something on my list. Even as kids, I would constantly say I loved it in my home country ‘Nigeria’ and wasn’t going anywhere. I never knew God had other plans.

I recalled making enquiries about Canada’s Permanent Residency and how you had to take the IELTS as part of the requirement. All of a sudden, I was intrigued and tried it. I also made an effort to persuade my husband to do the same, but he shared my perspective and wasn't thrilled about the prospect of living abroad. In any case, we both completed the IELTS and got started on the procedure, but we gave it up since we had a more important assignment that needed our full focus.

In 2021, we decided to relocate to the United Kingdom. At first, it was difficult because I was only starting to adjust to a new state and environment after resigning my 9 to 5 job, and now I had to relocate once more. I wasn't sure what it would look like over there, so I was rather nervous. I am well aware that I will have to start afresh. I had no desire to. I've heard a lot of frightening tales about foreigners. Even the prospect of the weather there was the most frightening. In any case, we began the application process and were anticipating a response.

I recalled receiving an email alert stating that my passport was prepared for pickup when I woke up one morning. Since my outcome affects the rest of the family, I wasn't entirely sure what it would be. I went immediately to the office after waking up, waited in queue and initially was unable to unlock my passport. After reading the pamphlet, I discovered that I had been granted a visa. I was overjoyed to hear that news. The kids were in the car with my spouse. Breaking the good news to him, I ran up to him.

When we got home, I noticed that my husband had already started looking for a ticket for me to travel the following day. It hit me hard to realise that I would soon be travelling alone to the UK, which made me very unhappy. It was unbelievable to me that I would be leaving everyone and everything I had ever known and travelling so far from home. I was supposed to be studying for a master's degree in the UK since September, but got a delayed decision outcome in October and needed to go as soon as I can to be able to do my registration and get settled quickly. I didn't care about it at the moment. But was more concerned about being so distant from my family which made me very uneasy.

To be continued…

Lots of love,

Linda.

How to cope in a Challenging situation

Hello everyone. I am aware it's been a minute here. I've been saddled with a lot of obligations, and juggling them all has proven challenging. Prioritising has been really difficult, but it's also crucial to strike a balance between work and personal life. I'm aware that having many obligations can sometimes make us feel completely overwhelmed, which is why I'll be sharing a few strategies that have helped me succeed in demanding circumstances.                               Identifying the Challenge Identifying the thing you refer to as the "challenge" is the initial coping strategy. Do you need to alter anything in your routine? Do you require a piece of equipment to make housework less stressful? Perhaps you need to prepare your meals for the upcoming week. Is it possible that you are becoming proficient in your current position and require a change of scenery?... Your ability to deal with or handle an issue im...

Strive greatly for Success. Give all your best in all you do. You have got it. No one wants to be associated with failure. It doesn't matter how much you have tried. Don't give up. It might be frustrating. I know! You might be on the verge of letting go. Please don't. There is light and that's what we must attain. A lot of thoughts about the future Nigeria is such a bad country Bad economy, bad leaders, bad government. But are people still thriving? YES We shouldn't lose focus on the things happening around us. I know there are a lot of distractions But how do I attain first place in a race when I am so bothered about onlookers and racers. Social media! How it makes me so happy and put a smile on my face.😁 But be careful there. It's such a great distraction. Addiction and a very bad one. If you aren't using it for the right course, please give yourself a break and I mean it. Not everything you see on the media is real. The earliest th...
