There isn't any doubt that social media has had a significant impact on us and when we look at the numerous change that social media has brought,we cannot fail to mention the positive and negative changes. Social media frenzy is one negative change that can't be overlooked.
These days there are instances were people virtually divulge too much of their lives on social media. They give a hint of where they go, what they do, what they eat, what their houses look like, their latest acquisition and all what not on social media and then sit back to see other social media users' reaction to what they posted.
Astonishingly there have been recorded cases of high mortality rate on social media (where people commit suicide and show a live video recording). To say the least, the best and worst can be found on social media and the madness is fast becoming a nightmare. Inasmuch as Social media serves as a channel where people can build virtual networks to connect with friends and loved ones but in recent times, some users have used it as an avenue to show off (pepper dem gang).
I once watched a foreign video of a man who disguised as a magician and spoke to people he never knew but gathered all the information he needed from their Facebook accounts. He was able to reveal a lot about them and each revelation left them stunned. That video simply shed a light on one indisputable fact- people must be careful of how much personal information they let out to the world. Screenshots are not left out. Private conversations can be made public at anytime. Be careful in your conversations.
Social media has killed a lot of self esteem. Especially if you are so bothered about others and their thoughts about you. If you don't post the kind of pictures they want to see, you might end up with just a few likes and comments. So many people have thought less of themselves because of this. Funny right?
Looking on the bright side, let's not forget that people make thousands and millions right here on social media(through vlog, blogging etc.) to connecting with the right people(social networking), sealing up good business deals and adding up values to themselves.
If you must be caught up in the 'Social media frenzy', stick to the positive side.
I would love to hear from you
