How to make Akara (Bean Cake)

Hello everyone, hope you all are safe? May God continue to protect us all and heal our land.

Today I will be showing you how to make akara (Bean cake). From the name, you already know beans is a staple for making Akara, there are different methods for different people but with these steps that I will be showing you, you can never go wrong.

Ingredients you need for making Akara:
  • 1 cup of Brown Beans
  • 1  big habanero pepper (atarodo)
  • 1 medium onions
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable oil
  • Seasoning cubes
Kitchen tools/ things needed::

  • Electric Blender
  • Bowl
  • Spoon for stirring
  • Frying spoon
  • Fry pan
  • Serving plateh
What's the next step?
The first thing to do is to pour the beans into a bowl, pour water into the bowl of beans and allow it soak a little, wait until you can easily remove the beans coat, then wash until you can peel all the beans coat and your brown beans becomes white. This means your beans is ready to be blended.

The next thing to do is to put your beans into a blender add just a little water to it and blend till you get a smooth paste.

You can also decide to add your onions and  habanero pepper to the beans and blend together (Please note this is a different method).

The next step is to pour your already blended beans paste into a bowl and add your chopped onions and pepper into it, then use your spoon and stir. Add a little salt to taste and your seasoning cube and stir again, till you are convinced it is properly mixed.

Turn on your gas cooker or stove and place your fry pan on it, add your vegetable oil, once heated, take a scoop of your bean paste and pour into the fry pan gently in batches. Once it's golden brown, turn to the other side and allow to fry for a while. Check carefully to ensure it is golden brown all over.

Carefully remove the Akara with a sieve fry spoon into a sieve lined with paper towels.

Our Akara is ready to be served.

GOOD BYE TO 2024 : WELCOME TO THE NEW YEAR 2025!

Greetings, Friends Since I haven't been here in a long time, I know that some of you must have moved on, even though I know that many of you would be speculating about my return. I'm apologizing publicly for being away for so long. To be honest, 2024 was a lot for me; I needed to do more reflection. Let us begin the new year with a heartfelt congrats. I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year. We can never get 2024 back, no matter how much we make or lose. It has only been added to a list of the years you have spent on this planet. It's only the second day of the year, but it's already a new year. Here's a little math exercise: We have 363 days remaining if we subtract two days from the 365-day year. This means that we have plenty of time to get our plans for the year off the ground. Watch this space because I will be sharing a lot with you this year. I pray that the new year brings us all good health, joy, peace, love, and unity and that we continue to be acc...

My Uk life Series - The Beginning (Planning)

Hi Friends, This has been long overdue but I think I am in a good place to begin this series. Travelling has never been something on my list. Even as kids, I would constantly say I loved it in my home country ‘Nigeria’ and wasn’t going anywhere. I never knew God had other plans. I recalled making enquiries about Canada’s Permanent Residency and how you had to take the IELTS as part of the requirement. All of a sudden, I was intrigued and tried it. I also made an effort to persuade my husband to do the same, but he shared my perspective and wasn't thrilled about the prospect of living abroad. In any case, we both completed the IELTS and got started on the procedure, but we gave it up since we had a more important assignment that needed our full focus.   In 2021, we decided to relocate to the United Kingdom. At first, it was difficult because I was only starting to adjust to a new state and environment after resigning my 9 to 5 job, and now I had to relocate once more. I wasn't...

How to cope in a Challenging situation

Hello everyone. I am aware it's been a minute here. I've been saddled with a lot of obligations, and juggling them all has proven challenging. Prioritising has been really difficult, but it's also crucial to strike a balance between work and personal life. I'm aware that having many obligations can sometimes make us feel completely overwhelmed, which is why I'll be sharing a few strategies that have helped me succeed in demanding circumstances.                               Identifying the Challenge Identifying the thing you refer to as the "challenge" is the initial coping strategy. Do you need to alter anything in your routine? Do you require a piece of equipment to make housework less stressful? Perhaps you need to prepare your meals for the upcoming week. Is it possible that you are becoming proficient in your current position and require a change of scenery?... Your ability to deal with or handle an issue im...
